Find out a little more about Nick and his his team of expert makers...
Nick founded the team many moons ago. Born and bred in Newcastle, he has always enjoyed making things. At university, Nick experimented with lots of different materials but somehow he was always drawn back to wood. His favourite is oak – its feel, its smell and of course, its historical significance. His favourite piece to build is the dining table, As Nick says ‘It’s the most important piece of furniture in any home – everything happens around it - from children drawing their pictures to dinner parties and romantic meals.’ For Nick, every piece of his high quality furniture is destined to be an heirloom – passed down through the generations, becoming more cherished as time passes. His favourite tool is the pencil.
Joe is the longest serving member of the team, he initially got into wood work when he was a young boy messing around building things in the shed with his brothers and was inspired by Fred Dibnah. Joe has a real passion for historical buildings, boats and the craftsmanship behind them. Before working for Nick, Joe worked in the Stephenson railway museum and has a passion for old machinery and locomotives. If he could build anything in the world he would build a traditional coble fishing boat and his favourite tool is a spoke shave.
