Nick James Nick James is a professionally trained and highly skilled craftsman. His passion for natural materials and intelligent design is central to his practice. Nick attended the country's leading furniture college, Rycotewood, where he established the first-class standards and precision required to produce high quality furniture. He then returned to his native Newcastle in 2003 to start a business designing and making furniture. Nick primarily works to commission and is happy to discuss any ideas or requirements which you may have. Speculative work is produced for exhibitions in which Nick exhibits annually. For details of future exhibitions please send your details and you will be put on the mailing list. In 2005 Nick set up the Mushroom Works, a group of artists' studios in which he could work alongside Newcastle's leading designers and artists. The Mushroom Works has been recognised internationally for its unique environment and creative network.
