Hearing Nick talk about stumbling on the most beautiful piece of wood is like hearing an explor er rejoice in the discovery of a new island. That passion is apparent in every aspect of his work from the initial designs through to the construction and the finish of the piece.

To Nick, each piece of wood has its own story which develops as the wood is transformed. But this is only part of the story. What happens next is up to you. Solid wood is a life resistant material. It can withstand the rigors of daily life and even be enhanced by them whether it’s teeth marks on the edge of a table or the gentle patina created during years of use.

The environment is very important to Nick James. Integrity and ethics are at the heart of Nick’s craftsmanship. He respects his materials and his attention to detail is evident in everything from the techniques he uses to the way he sources the wood. Where possible all timber is acquired from sustainably
managed sources. Any surplus wood is recycled.

For every piece of furniture made a tree is planted.
